About the Artist
Lyssa is from Northern Virginia where she grew up performing in musical theater. She began writing in her early teens and formed an original band and performed in local coffee shops in Fairfax and Loudoun County. In the early 90's, she started singing in jazz bands, agency dance bands, and supper clubs in the DC/Maryland where she gained recognition in the community. She was invited to be the opening performance at the prestigious Warner Theater in Washington, DC where she performed "A Piece of Sky" from the movie "Yentle". She received a standing ovation and raving reviews which sparked a string of performances in the DC metro area.
In 2001, Lyssa won a National vocal competition. She was one of 30,000 competitors across the US and Canada. She competed for five consecutive nights, competing with songs by Whitney Houston and taking home the trophy with her final performance of "A Piece of Sky" by Barbara Streisand. She won 1st place in the Female Vocalist category and was interviewed by Good Morning America.
In 2011, she recorded background vocals for Christian recording artist, Paul Baloche, on his album entitled "Same Love". She has also written several songs which she is in the process of producing.
